Treaty Learning Journey 2: Living Our Treaties

Child Welfare
Saskatchewan

In October, the Office of the Treaty Commissioner will host the first ever Treaty Learning Journey 2: Living Our Treaties. A follow up to part one, Treaty Learning Journey: Let’s Talk Truth, Living Our Treaties will dive deeper into Treaty relations and the Spirit and Intent of Treaty. It will take participants on a guided journey of the foundations of Treaty, the Spirit and Intent of Treaty featuring an Elder’s dialogue on the spiritual doctrines that inform Treaty relations, strengthening good relations, and UNDRIP and Treaties.

“We are always hearing, ‘What can I/we do?’ or ‘I don’t know where to go from here. What is my part in this?’ said Elaine Sutherland, the OTC director of Treaty Education.

“It is my firm belief, that it is every single person’s responsibility to learn and understand what it means to be a Treaty person in Saskatchewan. The Treaty Learning Journey 2 is the opportunity to learn, discuss, share and understand what a Treaty relationship truly means.”  This conference will be beneficial to anyone who wants to continue their reconciliation journey by understanding the Spirit and Intent of Treaty.

“We are all Treaty People is said for a reason. If you live in Saskatchewan, you are a Treaty person.  We hope that after attending the Treaty Learning Journey 2: Living Our Treaties, participants leave with the understanding of what that truly means.”
