Book Launch

This weekend is the launch of a new memoir by Métis activist and leader, Nora Cummings, titled Enn pchit fee Michif: A Life and Legacy. The book, co-authored by Métis historian Cheryl Troupe, chronicles Nora’s lifelong resistance against settler colonial oppression, which culminated in her becoming a nationally recognized advocate.
At this event, Troupe will talk with Cummings about how she drew on the resilience, kinship and pride the li vyeu (Elders) in her family had instilled in her, and the ways these values helped her organize at a time when Indigenous women’s voices were seldom heard.
Light refreshments will be served and books will be available for sale.
